2 weeks and counting!

Holy cow!!! One major project due on Wednesday, two weeks of classes and then it's off to the final push. One week of exams then NKE. I've ordered my pre exam package, a 20 hour online course you take to better your chances. The best part is you get your money back for the pre course if you fail the exam. LORD HELP ME..........failing????!!!!! I'm not even going to think about that.

I was very pleased to find out that last term I made the Dean's Honour List. I've never been an academic, I left that to my smarty pants siblings. To be honest and without sounding obnoxious.......I earned every grade of that honour. Hubby will tell you the amount of time (and tears) I spent last term totally consumed in school work and this term has not been much different. Hopefully, I will make this achievement again, and so far so good. If not, no biggie. Just the fact that I did this at 46 years of age is an accomplishment!!!

So, this weekend marks the beginning of studying for finals. A day or two of sleep will follow when they are over and then it's the push to study for the NKE on May 1st. Looking back, I still can't believe that eight months has passed. It seems to me I was just telling my family about my plans to return to school a couple of days ago......here I am almost finished. When they say time flies, they sure aren't kidding!!!

Reading Week (aka March Break)

Holy cow I didn't realize that I had not posted anything since January!
Well folks we are coming into the home stretch.....Reading Week is here and yes I've been doing A LOT of reading. I'm trying to at least catch up and create a solid study plan because once we return on March 15th there are only 4 weeks left!! YES I did say 4 WEEKS!

So the game plan is to get projects under control and read read read this week to lighten the load when classes begin again. Once those 4 weeks of classes, 1 week of exams are complete then it's time to study for my National Knowledge Exam which takes place on May 1st.

There is a 20 hour online prep course that I am going to take that increases your probability of passing the NKE and if you don't (god forbid!) you get your money back for the prep course. Can't go too wrong with that!

Adding to my plate is the fact that I have started teaching again, only 4 hours a week but it is 4 hours not studying. Would I actually BE studying? Probably not but those of you who are familiar with the teaching thing also know that it isn't just the hours you are with your student, there is prep time for curiculum. No biggy, I didn't have to say yes but my love for teaching got the better of me and I took the assignment, only one student which is easy breezy.

So it's time to hit the books and get some solid reading done. No other plans for the day but that.
WOW 4 weeks, how time flies!

Term 2

Well we're at the starting line for the second term. My schedule is pretty sweet and I think it will do quite nicely in accomodating our crazy winter weather. What does that mean? Well, I have afew hours off in between some of my classes and if the weather is really nasty I can just stay at school and find myself a nice quiet cubby to do my work. Monday's are the easiest....one class that is two hours from 9:30 - 11:30 and off for the rest of the day. The best part is that it is a computer course, my fav!!!
Wednesdays are brutal though, but you always have to take the good with the bad right? Four classes during the day (of which 3 are back to back) and a 4 hour lecture at night (every other week until March). I figure if I can handle the madness of last term and come out with 4 A's and 2 B's I'm not doing too shabby!
My sister did a blog about resolutions. I kind of gave up on that years ago because they truly are a "to do list for the first weeks of January" then they fall off and I'm back to my old terrible habits.
BUT this year is different. I have an education goal and there is no grey area here. I have to pass my certification exams, no if ands or buts about it!! So, my resolution is to stay on top of my work, be as successful academically as I was last term and hit the ground running in May when I graduate.
This is certainly going to be a year of major change in the Boyce household with 3 of us graduating-Andy grade 12 and off to college in Sept, Josh Corporate Public Relations at Fanshawe and probably won't be coming back home, and li'l old me from Lambton in HR Management. Althought the job market isn't that great right now there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the economy.
Let the games begin!!!
